Pack News: (updated 10:30 PM 7/14/2010)
Pool Party:
Join us at the Steeple Run Subdivision pool on Saturday, July 17. The Fun starts at noon and goes to at least 4:00 PM. We are going to have pizza and drinks, so don't miss out.
See the Events section for details.
Rain Gutter Regatta recap:
We had 26 boats entered in this year's Regatta. The weather cooperated and everyone had a grand time. This was a great event made possible by our hard-working
volunteers. Many thanks for all your help.
Parent Meeting recap:
Many thanks to the parents who were able to attend our meeting, and a special thank you for those who agreed to chair events and serve on committees. Our Pack is all about
volunteers and helping to make our boy's Cub Scouting experience as rewarding as possible. We will be posting all the new information soon. Meanwhile, remember the answer to all volunteer questions is an
enthusiastic "yes!" All help is greatly appreciated.
Memorial Day parade recap:
Just as we were about to start the parade, a thunderstorm hit! Since we were still at Lisle Jr. High, we were able to quickly find shelter and stay dry until parents could arrive.
Many thanks to all the Scouts who came out for the parade. Don't worry, we will definitely have other opportunities! Also, we will be awarding a "rain out" patch to those who came.
Picnic and Campout recap:
Wow, did we have a great time at our annual picnic and campout at Von Oven! We had food, fun, whistles, toads, astronomy, face painting and our advancement in rank ceremony.
All of our Scouts received their rank badges and are now officially graduated to the next rank in their progress along the Arrow of Light trail. We are so proud of them all.
Many thanks to the Kordzinskis for organizing another successful picnic, and special thanks to all the hardworking volunteers that made this such a terrific event!
Ice Cream Social recap:
Pack 504 had a very nice table display and impressive raffle basket at this popular event. We had a number of people come by and check us out. Many thanks to our Event Chair Kelly
Lukacsik and all those who helped make this event a sucess, including Ron Petrucci with the table and Mark Loid and Scott Thiele who took time out from Camporall to help.
Camporall recap:
The Camporall at St. James Farm was attended by over 2,800 Scouts and parents. We had 12 adults and 16 kids signed up from pack 504. In spite of the challenging logistics for this year's
event, our boys all had a great time. Many thanks to our Event Chair Jill Fisher and our super chefs Mark Loid, Scott Thiele and Donna Williams for all their hard work on behalf of our scouts. Also, special thanks to the Shens for
Sunday morning's coffee and donuts!
Scout-O-Rama recap:
Over 14,000 people converged on Cantigny for Scouting's 100 year celebration. Pack 504 scouts enjoyed archery, BBs, rockets, rides in giant plastic balls, monkey bridges, a fishing pond,
sky divers, and so much more. Wow, what a day!
Steeple Run plant sale Recap:
In spite of the weather and the delivery truck being late, the plant sale went off very well thanks to the efforts of our volunteers. Great job everyone!
April Pack Meeting recap:
Many thanks to our volunteers including automotive expert Paul Vargyas, who brought his Fierro to the meeting. Our scouts learned about motors and engines, got to use mechanic's tools and examine the insides of a lawn mower engine.
They also saw demonstrations of how magnetism is used to power electric motors and loudspeakers. It was a fun and informative meeting. Who could forget the jet engine powered Herbie?
Snoozeum recap:
Wow, did we have fun at the Shedd Aquarium! Our Scouts were treated to the incredible new Ocenarium show "Fantasea", which was unlike anything we have seen before. No plot spoilers, but imagine if Cirque Soleil
ran the Dolphin show...
Then there was the "4-D" presentation "Happy Feet". That's 3-D plus in your face (literally) special effects to heighten the experience. Congratulations to Event Chair Chuck Bednar for organizing this outstanding event.
