Why Cub Scouting?

It's about kids

We want them to learn, grow, and have fun. The best way to do that is to lead by example. Our Cub Scout pack is a relaxed and friendly organization run by parents just like you. Since 1930, the Cub Scouts have offered a family-centered program designed for boys who are in the first through fifth grades. Millions of boys have worn scout uniforms, including several United States Presidents.

Today's Scouts

As the times have changed, so have the scouts. Yes, we still go on camp outs and hikes in the DuPage County Forrest Preserves, but we also learn about science and technology, too.

Scouting provides a unique opportunity for boys to make friends in different classes and grade levels. It provides a supportive environment outside the structure of a classroom or the competition of an athletic field. Scouting helps boys learn how to work together as a team while recognizing their individual achievements.

Scouting is Fun

This year we went to see the Chicago Storm, Du Page Dragons, Kane County Cougars, and even camped out overnight at Chicago's Field Museum. The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Department brought a fire truck to a meeting, we had an astronomer talk about Mars, we launched model rockets, got to see RC aircraft, built and raced our own Pinewood Derby cars, and much more.

Membership

Most of our Cub Scouts attend Steeple Run Elementary School, but this is not a requirement for membership. We are fortunate to have a diverse membership drawn from a wide variety ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.

Although our scout year follows the school calendar, boys are welcome to join our pack at anytime. They are assigned to an age appropriate den. First graders are Tigers, second graders Wolves, third Graders Bears, fourth graders Webelos I, and fifth graders Webelos II.

As parents we have seen the positive effects of scouting in our own sons. We know scouting's value first hand, which is why we work hard to keep it affordable and why we want to extend it to others.

Be our Guest

We would like you to attend one of our meetings or events as our guest. Reservations are not required.
