Scouting for Food
February 12 and 13, 2010
This is the time of year that the Food Pantries and Shelters run out of food from their donations before the holidays. So scouts across Chicagoland give a helping hand. We distribute door hangers asking for food donations and
then collect the bags of food that people leave on their porches the following weekend. Each year scouts collect tons of food which goes to those most in need.
Blue and Gold
Friday February 19, 2010 6:30 PM
Each February we have the Blue and Gold dinner to celebrate the birth of scouting and honor the achievements of our second year (fifth grade) Webelos which include the Arrow of Light, Cub Scouting's highest award. A graduation ceremony, featuring participation by local Boy Scout Troops,
will mark the transition of the Webelos into Boy Scouting.
Blue and Gold is always a memorable night. For 2010, we will have an elaborate buffet set up in the
Steeple Run gym along with special entertainment for the whole family.
Our theme will be "Weird Science", presented by nationally known science teacher, Lee Marek. Best known for taking students from Kennedy Jr. High to New York to appear on David Letterman's show,
Lee will demonstrate scientific principles in an unforgettable manner. Millions have watched him on TV and now Pack 504 families will have an opportunity to get in on the fun in person.
Please come enjoy a great evening and support your Webelos! Tickets will be sold at the Pine Wood Derby January 22nd.
Cost is $7.00 per person, with a maximum of $28.00 per immediate family (does not include grandparents, etc.). Kindergarten and under are Free as are the 5th grade Webelos and 5th grade den leaders.
** DEN LEADERS: PLEASE HAVE YOUR DEN CREATE A CENTERPIECE FOR YOUR TABLES**
Volunteers are needed for set-up, clean-up and serving refreshments at the dinner. Please call Jeff or Georgeanne at 630-369-3685.
